New to Acupuncture?

You’re gonna love it! Your treatment should be comfortable, relaxing, and not at all painful. It can be therapeutic to take deep breaths and allow your body to unwind.

Pre-Treatment Tip: Eat a light snack before your session to help prevent dizziness, especially if you have low blood pressure or a history of fainting.

Phone Policy: Please turn your phone off or set it to silent mode.

New to Community Acupuncture?

Please Wear a Mask: Patients are required to wear masks during group sessions.

Please Wear Comfortable Attire: Please come dressed in loose-fitting clothing that allows for easy access to your arms and legs. Wear items that can be rolled above your elbows and knees to ensure a smooth treatment experience.

Relaxed and Quiet Atmosphere: We aim to create a relaxing environment, so please maintain a quiet space for everyone’s benefit. If you prefer listing to your own music or a podcast during your session, you are welcome to do so - just bring headphones.

Online Booking

We have online booking which is available 24/7. You can make appointments or cancel online up to 24-hrs before your appointment.

New Patient Paperwork

You must complete the online New Patient Intake Form before your scheduled appointment time. The form goes over your health history and takes about 5-10 minutes. All information you provide will be completely confidential. The link to the form will be provided in your account and your confirmation email after you schedule your first appointment.

What to Expect

Our acupuncture needles are single-use, hair-thin, and sterile. During treatment, people often feel small muscle contractions, gentle pressure, or sometimes nothing at all - it really depends on the location being treating and sensitivity of the patient. Once the needles are in place, we’ll have you rest for ten to twenty minutes. This rest period is important for deep release and relaxation. Let us know if you have questions, otherwise, just relax and enjoy!

Masking

Masking is required for community acupuncture and optional for private sessions. In community acupuncture or our group sessions, we ask that patients wear masks to protect themselves and our more vulnerable patients. If you forget to bring your mask, we have extras! Your acupuncturist will be masked for both community and private sessions

Direct Billing

We offer direct billing for most major insurance companies including Medavie Blue Cross, Sun Life, Green Shield, Canada life, Veteran Affairs, Manulife, and others under the Telus Health umbrella. If you have private coverage, please provide your insurance details in the online intake forms.

Payment

Debit and cash are preferred as credit card processing fees are really expensive. We don’t carry cash on-site so if you do plan to pay cash, please bring exact change.

Treatment plan

At the end of your initial appointment, together we’ll build a treatment plan that works for you and your situation. Similar to physical therapy, the effects of acupuncture tend to build over time, and very rarely does one session alone resolve a condition.

To experience lasting relief, it's important to follow your treatment plan. Most acute conditions can take four to six treatments to resolve. Weekly or twice weekly appointments are typical for an acute flareup.

Chronic conditions, with symptoms lasting for more than six months, tend to take longer to fully resolve - usually ten or more sessions. In the start of a treatment plan it’s wise to try get some traction and book your appointments in closer proximity. Once a week for a few weeks then progressively space out your treatments as your symptoms lessen. Once your concern is fully resolved, it's wise to periodically schedule preventive treatments.

Cancellation Policy

When you book an appointment, this time is reserved specifically for you - so we ask that you give 24hrs notice of cancellations or rescheduling. Missed private treatments will be charged full price, and missed community acupuncture treatments will be charged $35.
