what is community acupuncture?

Community acupuncture is a model of care that makes acupuncture more accessible by offering personalized treatments in a quiet group setting. At Rooted Rose, community treatments take place in a shared space where you can relax in a comfortable recliner while receiving care.

The goal of this approach is to lower financial barriers that often prevent people from seeking acupuncture. By treating multiple people in the same room, we’re able to keep costs down and offer a sliding scale—so more individuals can access consistent and effective care.

Treatments typically focus on the arms and lower legs, using a channel-based method that involves placing needles distally (away from the area of pain). This is a powerful approach which allows us to address a wide range of concerns without needing to needle directly at the site of discomfort.

To support a restful atmosphere, we limit community sessions to a maximum of four patients at a time. We ask everyone to keep voices low or remain as quiet as possible so the space can stay calm and restorative.

sliding scale

We use a sliding-scale model rather than fixed pricing. This allows you to choose the amount that feels sustainable for you within the following ranges:

New patients: $45–$75

Returning patients: $35–$65

You don’t need to explain or justify the amount you choose.

What to Expect?

When you arrive, you'll enter directly into the community treatment room. Please speak softly and take a seat in the waiting area. Once your practitioner is ready, they’ll invite you over for a brief chat to gain an understanding of your health concerns and where you'd like to focus.

From there, we’ll discuss treatment strategies and help you settle into a recliner to begin. Most people rest with the needles in place for about 20 to 30 minutes, though you're welcome to let us know when you’re ready to finish. Altogether, plan to be at the clinic for around an hour.
