Welcome to Rooted Rose Community Acupuncture!
Whether you’re new to acupuncture or simply new to Rooted Rose, you're in good hands. The goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible, while providing you with gentle and effective treatment.
At Rooted Rose, we take a targeted, evidence-based approach to help your body recover, adapt, and move with greater ease.
Here’s a few pointers to help ensure you have a good treatment:
1) Please avoid coming more than five minutes early to your appointments, as it can be disruptive to the clinic open concept space.
2) Please avoid drinking coffee directly before your visit
3) Make sure to eat a little snack beforehand; it helps with light-headedness
4) Switch your phone to silent mode
5) No chewing gum, mints or any chocking hazards during treatment
6) For community acupuncture, please wear loose fitting clothing so we can access your legs and arms
What to expect
-
You'll be welcomed into a calm, comfortable, community-oriented space. Please don’t arrive early. Ideally you arrive at your scheduled appointment time or 5-10 minutes early is completely okay. Please do not come earlier than 10 minutes as your timing is important for a smoothly run clinic.
-
We’ll start with a focused conversation about what’s been showing up in your body and life to help design a treatment plan to best suit your needs and goals.
In private treatments, we can include a short series of orthopaedic assessments to help guide your treatment. These hands-on evaluations help us to assess muscle strength, joint function, and possible nerve involvement.
-
Once you’re comfortable, your practitioner will place fine, sterile acupuncture needles in very specific locations to help relieve muscle tension, stimulate under-active muscles, improve circulation, and calm the nervous system.
In community treatments you’ll rest in a shared quiet space. Masking is required in community acupuncture sessions. In private sessions, we may include additional modalities such as cupping therapy, electro-acupuncture or gua sha for deeper relief. Most people find the treatments deeply relaxing - and it’s common to drift off a bit.
-
Take your time getting up. Drink water, move gently and pay attention to how your body feels over the next few days. Subtle shifts often happen between treatments, and consistency helps reinforce long-term change.
If you are unsure of how often to come in, we’ll discuss a personalized plan based on your condition, goals and schedule.
It’s generally a good idea, though, to book a few treatments in advance, spaced one week apart. If for an acute injury; a recent sprain for example, you’ll want to book more frequently - twice a week. We’ll check in at each session to track your progress, re-evaluate patterns, and adjust your treatment accordingly.
